Inside out splash

The British narrator of SEVENX, Allan Dewey, is quite the RENAISSANCE MAN!

We are working on new techniques, some of which we will be showing at the Klingspor show next month in Hickory, NC. Come see us if you are in the area!

So, one technique I have played with once is called inside-out turning (aka, involuted turning). Most of the products of this technique are novelty stuff, but the procedure is nonetheless a true turning technique and kind of fun! The usual applications are Christmas ornaments and gee-gaws to hang from the ceiling fan pull cord. The occasional product, however, is quite interesting, as here: Big Island Wood Turners Burl Object.

So we are working up a demo for next month! We also are thinking about having a one-day class here in Asheville to make some Christmas ornaments with this technique–if this interests you for November or October, let us know ASAP.

Anyway, there is a pics album of the first experiments on the website.

Tomorrow we will work with better wood and a plan…
